Wheatland Music Org. is in the business of preserving Traditional Arts. Making scholarships available to children/adults to grow their arts skills or obtain needed supplies is one of the ways they meet their mission.

ELYCE FISHMAN SCHOLARSHIP

Funding is awarded to assist MI children/adults to improve in music, dance, arts, and crafts. Activities: apprenticeships, workshops, lessons, instrument rental/purchase and arts supplies.

THE JAN FOWLER TRADITIONAL DANCE CALLING FUND

Established by Jan’s family, this fund provides monetary resources for the purpose of ensuring there are tradition bearers with the skill to teach and call old-time community dance Squares, rounds, contras, and play party games. Michigan adults & teens may apply for funds to help cover the cost of workshops, classes, and mentoring for teaching old-time dance calling. Travel expenses and other miscellaneous expenses will be considered.

JENINE STICKLER MEMORIAL GROUP FUND

This fund can help Nonprofit or School Instructors of Children & Youth (3-18) in Mecosta, Osceola, Lake, Montcalm & Newaygo Counties. Instructors teaching traditional arts may seek up to $1500 to buy instruments or art supplies that students may keep and take home. This fund also helps children or youth with demonstrated financial need obtain art “tools and equipment” such as recorders, ukuleles, harmonicas, carving tools, etc. so they can practice at home and build skills.
